Checking the Balance on a very old (2002) First Class Phonecard.

I have a very old phone card that was for use with public pay phones.

I would like to check the balance (if there is any balance that can be used) but the only way to check the balance online seems to require an "access number" and a "pin".   I have 4 different numbers on the back of this old card and none of them are labeled as an access number or a pin.

Any idea how to check if there is a usable balance on this old card?

Thank you!

Hello @ roxroxmoo!

Welcome to the Community Forums! It is definitely important to check the balance on a PREPAID card. I am happy to provide the following information.

Please reach out to our prepaid customer service team at 800-901-9878 to know more information about the First Class Phonecard.

My prepaid card is from 20 years ago.

I bought it to use at public pay phones (yeah it's old).

When I call the 800-901-9878 - it is automated and asks for my 10 digit mobile number.

There is no mobile number associated with this card.

The automated message told me to press 1 if I did not have an mobile number.   So I pressed 1.

The automated message then told me if it has been more than 60 days since my prepaid account expired,

I would need to go to an AT&T store.

@roxroxmoo You have posted this in the ATT Prepaid (wireless) section.  I don't see a forum that would apply to this.

I think it may be 15 or more years since I last used one, so it is very possible that this card isn't any good anymore.

I saw an old post from last December: https://forums.att.com/conversations/landline-phone-plans/walmart-prepaid-phone-card-says-minutes-do-not-expire-but-the-card-does-not-work/63a62e89c95d0e10dbde830f

But, at least at some point, the terms changed to expiring 365 days after no activity.  That probably wasn't the case in 2002, but whether that card information was transferred to their newer systems is unknown.
