Activated prepaid but no service

Bought an att prepaid sim, stuck it in my phone (galaxy S9+ which an IMEI check said is valid) paid for the whole year, and says it's activated, got a number. But I have no service and am unable to make or receive calls and texts. Can't even sign into the att account I made because the stupid two factor authentication wants to send a text to my number, which I never get because guess what, can't make or receive calls. Then they give you different numbers to call if you have a problem, but again, can't make or receive calls or texts. Definitely not a service issue as I live in Seattle, and I've tried every apn I could find. Rebooting the phone off and on doesn't work.

Were you getting a new number or did you sign up based on transferring your number as a port in from a different service provider?  If your number hasn't been ported, that would explain why you don't have active service.

Are you trying to log into the right place? You don’t create an account on prepaid and prepaid does not have 2 factor authentication, though prepaid does send a text if you need to reset your password. The correct place to login to prepaid is:

https://www.paygonline.com/websc/loginPage.html

Your initial password should be the last 4 digits of the phone.

We are here to help get your service up and running, @dmitriprokofych.

We do understand how important it is to be able to use your service after activation.

Thank you to the ACE's for the help, and thank you for letting us know what steps you have tried.

To add, please provide us with the model number of your S9+. We want to make sure your device is an eligible device to work on our network. You can also view our Compatible Device List to see if your device is listed by the model number.

We do look forward to your response.

New number. And sign into the "my att" app, which I created an email and password when I paid for the year and I try to sign in it says it's sending a text to my new number that I got and was told was activated. Model SM-G965U

Thank you for the response, @dmitriprokofych.

Let's meet in a DM to take a closer look to see why you are showing no service on your end. You will find a chat icon next to a bell icon in the upper right corner. Our next message will appear there.

Thank you for contacting AT&T Community Forums. We look forward to chatting soon.

New number. And sign into the "my att" app,

As sandblaster mentioned you should be using the pay go online website. While it is possible to log into my AT&T it is not where you manage prepaid service.  Logging in will require that you change your password, pretty much every time

which I created an email and password when I paid for the year and I try to sign in it says it's sending a text to my new number that I got and was told was activated. Model SM-G965U

Please check the imei.

The S9 'U' model should have converted to AT&T boot Splash as soon as you inserted an AT&T SIM card.  Did it?
