What is Error Code “-4” on HBO Max app on ROKU TV?

For the past week, I get this error message you in the app on my ROKU: “HBO Max Application Error” “Lost Connection to the server” “Error Code -4” All reboots, re-installs of the app, TV, etc….have been done. ROKU is saying it’s HBO Max and not them. Has anyone else had or have this issue and if so, how was it resolved? Thank you for your time

At this time, we strongly encourage you to follow up with HBO Max directly for further assistance with your app concerns by calling 1-855 442-6629. You can also try to do the following:

  • If the HBO Max app isn’t working as expected on your Roku, try these steps: Update HBO Max-
    • We recently updated the HBO Max app. To update HBO Max, press the Home button on your Roku remote, then go to Settings > System > System update > Check now.

I am having this problem on my Roku TV. Both the Roku TV itself and the HBO max app are up to date. Still when trying to watch tv on HBO max comes back with the -4 error code. I don't know how to fix this. Anyone else figure this out yet?
