Can't sign in on my TV

I'm trying to log into HBO Max on my TV, I go to hbomax.com/tvsignin and it tells me to enter the code from my TV, I enter the code, click sign in with a provider, select AT&T and I get the login screen. I enter my credentials, and I'm prompted to enter the code again. I enter the code and it  takes me right back to the same sign in screen where I can sign into my HBO Max account or sign in with a provider. I click sign in with a provider, select AT&T and it takes me back to the screen to enter the code.

I've spent most of the morning on this. I was able to successfully sign in on my phone, I can sign in a computer but I can not sign in on my TV. I've tried using Chrome, Edge, and the same thing keeps happening, after selecting my provider and directing me to the provider sign in page, it will not go any further, it keeps redirecting to the code page.

Same thing happened on my Chromecast. I just had to close the app and reopen and I was magically logged in.

I am having the exact same problem.  I can log in from my computer and HBO app on iPhone by selecting AT&T as provider and logging in there.  But my Sony TV doesn't do that.  I enter code, then select provider, then it goes to AT&T login screen.  I login there and it takes me back to Sign in page.  I select provider again and instead of giving me provider options, it asks for the code.  I put code in and it goes back to Sign in screen.  Rinse and repeat...

Hi there @jimatvs! We definitely want to help you get logged in, so you can enjoy your favorite TV shows and movies.

It seems that you're having trouble with the code from your TV. At this time we recommend these troubleshooting steps:

  • Sign out of your HBO Max and reinstall the app to ensure that you have the latest app version.
  • Sign into your AT&T account and set up HBO Max again when prompted to. Look for 'Activate HBO Max' tile, to activate HBO Max before signing in.
  • Reset your AT&T Password and ensure that you log into HBO Max using the correct user ID and password associated with your qualified wireless account.
  • Sign into HBO Max using the web browser, clear your cookies & cache and try switching browsers to reset your online access.

If you still can't sign in on your TV, delete and reinstall the HBO Max app on your TV. Once reinstalled, open HBO Max and try signing in again. Make sure you're using a supported browser.

We hope this helps! Reach back out to us if you have additional questions. Thank you for visiting AT&T Community Forums!

Didn't work...I've removed the app, restarted my Roku TV, tried chrome, edge, still not working. I give up.

I tried all of the above and still no luck unfortunately.  I can log into HBO max on everything but my TV.  I have another smart TV I'm going to try and login on, but I don't expect different results.  It seems to be something isolated with the tvsignin page.

Hello, @ndpendent! We understand the frustration in not being able to sign in to HBO Max.

To make sure we provide the most accurate information, we do need a few more details from  you such as:

  • Which AT&T service gives you access to HBO Max? So we can provide the correct log in steps.
  • If you have access through your wireless plan, which plan are you currently using? So we can see if your plan still allows access to HBO Max.
  • How long have you not been able to log in on your TV?

We hope to hear back from you soon and thank you for reaching out to the AT&T Community Forums!

I'm offered HBO Max through my internet plan. I've never used it before. I received a text message a few days ago saying it was noticed I've never signed into HBO Max and reminding me that this is included with my fiber plan. So today I tried and just got so frustrated. Again, I can log in on my computer and on my phon3, but the hbomax/tvsignin doesn't seem to want to work. It keeps going back to the code page. Once I enter the code shown on my tv, it should allow me in the tv app, but nope.

Thanks for letting us know which steps you took @ndpendent.

Here are some considerations to make before signing in to your TV:

  • Make sure you activate your HBO Max through your MyAT&T account. Once logeed in, you'll see an option to Get Started.
  • If you don't see the option to Get Started go to http://att.com/acctmgmt/startwatchinghbomax.
  • Try using a computer for registration. You may need to clear cache and cookies.
  • Make sure you are using the right login. It will be the same one you use to view your MyAT&T account.
  • If you upgrade or change your AT&T Internet Service Plan, you will lose HBO MAX.
  • If you move to a new address, you will lose HBO MAX.

Here's an article that will help get you signed into your HBO Max, using your 1 Gig plan.

Please Let us know if this helps!

I figured it out, I Googled "sign into HBO Max on my TV." The link is NOT hbomax./tvsignin, use activate.hbomax.com.

The instructions need to be updated.
