HBOMax conversion to MAX
Still trying to find out if we are keeping 4K/ATmos streaming on out AT&T/MAX accounts?
Since there are now 3 tiers of MAX
Ad-supported
Ad-Free (1080P)
Ultimate (4K/Atmos)
When i log in to my MAX account, it shows (AD-Free)

Using Airplay from an iPhone on the Max app to the Apple TV4k does give Dolby Vision 4k

Having to use Airplay is lame imo. Upon further investigation, the Max app on the ATV4k is like the Prime app, it doesn't play Dolby Vision using the same account. I have to use the internal app on the LG to play Dolby Vision for either one now. It's not a limitation of Apple, it's Amazon and HBO. Hopefully it's just a glitch with Max. Time will tell.

Glad to answer your question, Redmadder.
You would have access to the ad-free tier. Let us know if you have any other questions.

@ATTHelp I am trying to log in to the new Max through provider I no longer have a subcription. I checked my AT&T account and sure enough I still have it under my AT&T, but cannot access it through max. It said I no longer have a subscription and I have to renew. Also, none of my HBO Max profiles that were created in HBO Max are appearing under Max.

It must be AT&T. We share an ad-free standalone subscription with our daughter and Max fired right up with all of our settings. However, it doesn't play Dolby Vision on the ATV4k but does play Dolby Vision on the internal LG app so it's not ready yet for the ATV4k. Other Dolby Vision capable apps on the ATV4k work just fine. So, for now at least, the ad-free app does offer 4k HDR. However, that will probably change in the very near future so Max can get more subscription money for the Ultimate tier.

@ATTHelp thank you for the answer. Will we have the option to say pay the difference if we want to upgrade to ultimate tier?

@Redmadder, as of right now, there will not be an option for paying the difference for an upgrade, however, you will have access to 4k options with select movies.
Thank you for reaching out to us on AT&T Community Forums. Do not hesitate to reach back out in the future for any additional assistance.

Hi @Zoey7354. Thank you for your response, glad to answer your question.
At this time in order to have access to the 4K version you would need to have the ad-free subscription.
Let us know if you have any other questions.
