HBO Max free w internet no channels on ATT TV

so i get hbo max free with my gig internet. I also have ATT TV. I can accesa the HBO max just fine. But the HBO channels are not showing up on my ATT TV. After dealing with customer service several times and with no help. I added hbo max on my ATT TV account. Im hoping after the 3 month trial it will just work.

According to the terms i found on that promo if you have gig internet you get hbo max free. Which includes the app access as well as the hbo channels and on demand to your TV sub. Uverse, ATT TV, direct Tv. It says may charge account and then get credited.

Has anyone gotten this to actually work ? Maybe i didnt wait long enough. Maybe i have to leave hbo max for like 2 months in order for it to be credited and be actually free

Good afternoon @Dynamix,

Thank you for reaching out. Let's take a further look into this together so we can get you streaming HBO with your AT&T TV service.

Just to verify, is your Internet and AT&T TV login the same?

So when i signed up for ATT TV i created an account using my gmail address. I already had an att.net email because i have the gig internet. And then my ATT TV account merged to my att.net email. So basically i log into ATT TV with my att.net account. I also log into hbo max app with this same logon.

HBO Max is a separate app.

I have it through my 1000 Mbps internet. I do not get the "traditional" HBO channels or HBO On Demand via my internet subscription.

Is there any way to get "traditional" HBO channels or HBO On Demand to work for free on DirecTv with free HBO Max?

  • HBO (traditional) is a "premium" network which you watch on your TV through a paid TV service like DirecTV/Dish/Spectrum/etc.
  • HBO On Demand is available through regular On Demand service on your TV and free when you have HBO.
  • HBOMAX is the new STREAMING service that requires an internet connection, the app and a device to stream on (iPhone/SmartTV/etc.).  It is free with some wireless plans, internet plans and if you pay for HBO.

here is a picture taken from the ATT website. It states  "If you have residential DIRECTV, AT&T TV, U-Verse TV or AT&T TV NOW, HBO channels and HBO On Demand will also be added on that TV platform. May be billed and then credited on that TV platform within 2 bills."

So that means since i have gig fiber and i get HBO Max free. Which allows me to login to the app and use it, that part works. I also have ATT&T TV so the other part is the HBO channels as well as On Demand will be added if you have residential DIRECTV, AT&T TV, U-Verse TV or AT&T TV NOW. Currently i have 3 months of the HBO premium channels for free. I would hope once that is up it will be free. Looks like i may be paying for 2 months and then it will get credited back. But this seems to even confuse customer service. If you pay for HBO via ATT TV for example you also get access to the HBO MAX app, it has all been rebranded now to just be HBO MAX.

Thank you, that's what I was thinking maybe I just have to wait awhile for them to come back on my DirecTv.

I haven't had any luck either! It's been over 30 days, 6 different Rep's and 4 hours of frustration.  Under details for the Internet 1000 plan it clearly states, if you have residential DIRECTV, DIRECTV STREAM, or U-verse TV, HBO channels and HBO On Demand will also be added on that TV platform.
