AT&T HBO Max Scam

So after three days of being bounced around all over the place because of the HBO Max subscription expired issue, here's what an AT&T Mobility manager told me today.  Apparently, even if you have multiple Elite Unlimited plans on your AT&T wireless account, you now only get one HBO Max account.  This wasn't true in September when I upgraded my account because both Elite Unlimited plans had separate HBO Max accounts and logins.  Sometime last week that apparently changed.

So my question to AT&T is simply this.  What am I paying you for if there is only one HBO Max subscription regardless of the number of Elite Plans I have on my account?

This is a total scam and extremely dishonest when the Elite Plan clearly shows it comes with HBO Max.

Get a clue, AT&T.

Hello bkcash07, we're here to help!

You are paying for your calling plan which allows your cellular device to work on AT&T network. You can have multiple users once you sign into the HBO Max app.

Just like everyone else I have tried to talk to at AT&T, you've missed the point.  The Elite Unlimited plan comes with HBO Max.  I have three of those plans on my account.  The logical conclusion, and no one can show me where it says anything different on AT&T's website, is that I should have three separate HBO Max accounts, one for each phone with an Elite plan.  The HBO Max is based on the plan, not my AT&T account.

Everything worked fine from September until about a week ago.  So that tells me that someone at AT&T decided to change this without notifying any customers.  The changes on AT&T's end hit HBO Max who now says the subscriptions are expired.  Yes, you can log in through AT&T and share an HBO Max account, but I didn't buy three Elite plans to do that.  If I wanted to share HBO Max accounts, I would have set up only one Elite plan.

Again, this is a rip-off.  I'm essentially paying for two HBO Max accounts that I no longer have access to.  Looks like a (Edited per community guidelines) (Edited per community guidelines) in the making here.

Hello bkcash07, we're here to help!

You just get HBO Max free per account not by how many lines you have. Although you can set up multiple users. You can check out the 'see

details' option under the AT&T Unlimited Elite plan information you will see "LIMITS: Access to one HBO Max account per AT&T account holder."

If you're having trouble signing in to HBO Max let us know. This is a known issue affecting many customers. AT&T is working diligently on a fix.

I have to echo what this person says.  It was working fine for me with multiple hbo accounts an elite plans, for the last YEAR up until a few days ago.

there has been zero communication from AT&T about this change??  It’s been very confusing.  Should I believe you that this is the new way it’s supposed to work?

Suppose I should drop all the elite plans back down then?  This was the reason why I had the other elite accounts on my plan.

Jagils, you are totally correct. Except for the one line I need the hotspot data on, I may as well get rid of the other elite plans.  AT&T opened a case but of course I haven’t heard back.  When you call you’ll spend hours on the phone only to be told you get just one HBO Max per account.  No one can tell me when it changed, why it changed, or why they advertise one thing but do another.  Total scam!

Tech support, customer service, all have been completely worthless.

I did find the limit the person above spoke about, if you go to https://www.att.com/hbo-max/?source=IC2Y0H0000000000L&wtExtndSource=hbomax

go to the fine print at the bottom, there is a small like about limits.

It changed about a week ago it, it seems like based on  when it stopped working.

I do agree that paying for multiple elite plans, and no communication or grandfathering on this change makes it sort of a scam for people who had multiple plans and hbo accounts previously.

So that's all well and good that AT&T made this change.  And I'm sure it makes sense for the corporate structure.  HOWEVER, I'm paying for SEVEN (7) elite plans, and yes, they receive hotspot access and limited throttling, BUT HBOmax limits you to FIVE (5) profiles.  So two of my users aren't getting the service they pay for.  So either AT&T needs to revert to individual HBOmax accounts per user or HBOmax needs to expand the number of profiles available to the maximum number of users an AT&T account can have (10, by my understanding).

Can we file a (Edited per community guidelines) (Edited per community guidelines) because I subscribed under false pretenses and am unable to utilize HBO MAX at all!
