Digital Life Video Recordings

Beginning in November 2021 when I view captured video recordings on the Digital Life App, they are automatically downloaded to my phone to a folder named DL.  I did not create this folder nor do I want every recording I look at saved.   I used to have to select a recording and then export it if I wanted to save it.   How do I turn the automatic download off?  I have a Galaxy S20 Plus phone.

Thanks for any help.

I am not aware of a feature that will download your DL videos directly to your phone when watched. A couple of things that may help me:

  1. Is there a setting on your phone that may be causing this issue?
  2. Did you have the S20 Plus when this began?
  3. Have you downloaded any new apps that may be causing this?

I will check with our technical team to see if they have heard of this before and respond to you tomorrow.

1.  I have looked everywhere on the phone for a setting that would cause this.  Other videos I look at from other sites are not automatically downloaded.

2.  I have had my S20 for well over a year.  This just started in November.

3.  Will have to think about any new apps I may have downloaded that may be causing this.  Not aware of any off hand.

Thank you

@MJJ1113

Good evening,

I was informed by a member of our development team that the latest app update  did include this new feature. The feature will behave as you described and will download any video you view within your Digital Life app. This was added as a backup to prevent customers from losing critical videos in the event of an emergency.

There isn't a way to disable this feature but you can delete the recordings from the Digital Life folder on your mobile device.

Have a nice evening.

Thank you for looking in to this for me.  It would be nice to be able to disable this feature in a future update.  I'd like to look at any recorded video first and decide then to download it.

Thanks again.

There's very little storage space for all of your captured video on your Digital Life cameras, so you have to be selective about what you save. If you're like me, you might want to save all the footage you can, but you sometimes have to make the tough choice to delete your favorite videos. Thankfully, there's an easy way to backup your footage to a computer or other storage devices. You can connect them to a secondary device and download all your footage onto it! It's a great way to back up, assuming your computer can handle all of your saved video.
