Re-installing Home Landline

Elderly parents, trying to save money, disconnected their AT&T home landline and went with a CLEC provider.  They cannot hear or talk on the VoIP line, which is AT&T's internet.  Since the first of May, we have been trying to have the original landline/number re-installed. 

We've been given work reference numbers 3 times only to find out each time there is NO record of the reference number given. We've been told 4-5 times we would receive a callback and it's not happened. 

HELP!  We need someone to help us follow completely through with this!!  THANKS

You say they are with a CLEC, then you say they can't hear or talk on VoIP line. So which is it a CLEC or VoIP and does this VoIP plug into an Ethernet port and if it does what service is it. 

On the landline issue, if it was canceled you're not going to get the number back, you could see if the number of the service you're using can be ported. When you are placing the order are you telling them you want a POTS line? Also if you removed a POTS line you many not be able to get the service back if they now offer digital service.
