What service? If this is a traditional landline (POTS) test from the NID with a known working corded phone. If AT&T Phone (digital service) try resetting the modem still no good plug a known working phone into the modem.

We want to help with your phone line, .

As our ACE @spoom2 mentioned, there is a difference between traditional landline service and VoIP (Voice over IP) phone.

If you have a traditional landline, we recommend the following steps to determine if the interference is happening in your home or the AT&T network:

  1. Locate the Telephone Network Interface which is usually located on the back or on the side of the house.
  2. Use a screwdriver to open the box. Inside the box is a phone jack labeled customer access jack.
  3. Unplug the short telephone cord and plug in your corded phone and determine if the problem still exists. If you do not have a clear dial tone, the problem is with the AT&T network.
  4. Unplug the corded phone and replace the short telephone cord. Make sure you close and tighten the Telephone Network Interface cover.

If you have VoIP digital phone service, we recommend signing in to the Troubleshooting tool to provide accurate and up-to-date information on receiving and making calls.

Please keep us updated!
