Illegal Port of Number
I have spent 4 hours on the phone after they cancelled service on my 95 year old Mothers service without authorization. Att claims it was ported to comcast. we did not authorize this - now they can't undo it who do I contact -

Are you sure someone selling Comcast service didn't scam your mom?

If you're sure she wasn't scammed file an FCC complaint. Have you checked with
Comcast to see who authorized the port?

You can call the 800-288-2020 number.
Or you can sit here and wait until ATTHelp decides to see this thread and reply.
Or you can file a complaint with the FCC.
I'd pick the latter. You'll likely get somewhere faster.
As much as AT&T wants POTS accounts to go away, they're still not going to just close the account or port it away without a request. If your mom didn't have a porting block on the account, then it the threshold for someone to port the number is pretty low.

This is for others who may be following this topic. The following statement is a quote by the OP.
You may not care who caused the issue, but the phone companies will. Also, this is a user forum made up of other customers, no one from AT&T is going to call by posting and no one here can call and fix an account issue for someone else. I feel sorry for the elderly lady who I think was most likely preyed upon by scammers. The OP doesn't say if a Comcast rep came to install service.
