ATT is making me crazy re Phone 200 Plan
We have the Phone 200 plan. It was 27.99 when we signed up. In 2021, it went up to 28.99. Oct 2022 it went up to 30.99. However, the bill prior to the increase states: "Phone 200 pricing:
The $28.99 monthly rate for Phone 200 will increase to $30.99 on 10/2/2022. If you subscribe to Phone 200, but at a different monthly rate, you will not be affected by this change. For questions or to learn more about our money saving services, visit att.com or call 800.288.2020."
I have been told on repeated occasions and have even been credited money in the interim, that since we already had Phone 200 before the price increase, we were subscribers, so should NOT have gotten the increase. When I called again in Dec 2022, I was transferred to a supervisor who agreed, again, and said would pass to a manager. It's now April 2023. No change. Still charging 30.99. Once it goes up, can't change. Gave up in 2021 and just was paying the extra $1. Seems there will be no end to the increases, so trying to get the real story. Got disconnected after over 30 minutes last week. This is my last resort. Is the higher price only for new customers? Are we subscribers or not? Are they overcharging us? If so, how can we get it fixed?
I'd love some answers. Thank you anyone who knows.

I do not know for sure but I would say you are not being overcharged and any credit you got was because the agents are just as confused as we customers. To me, that line stating “If you subscribe to Phone 200, but at a different monthly rate, you will not be affected by this change“ does not apply to you because you weren’t subscribed at a different rate, you were paying the $28.99 rate that was increased. I have the same plan, I’m also paying $30.99, so if they have it wrong for you, they have it wrong for me too. I suspect it’s not wrong, though.

I suspect you are right, sandblaster. I was getting hung up on whether a person was a subscriber or not. So, everyone is a subscriber. Likely those who subscribe at a different monthly rate pay more than 30.99 and ATT wants to make clear they will NOT be getting a lower rate. As if we would ever think ATT would lower any of our rates. Thanks for your insight.
