Number of rings before call goes to voicemail

I am just trying to figure out how to change the settings for the number of rings before our landline goes to voicemail.  Right now the setting is too short.  It is difficult for us to get to the phone before the call goes to voicemail.

For ATT PHONE previously Uverse VOIP where phone comes from the gateway phone port… default is 4 rings, max is 6 rings or disable VM completely.

These changes are done using your online account.

Go to Account overview > My digital phone > Check or manage voicemail & features. On the Voicemail Settings tab, scroll to General Preferences and select Set Number Of Rings Before Voicemail. Choose a setting ranging from 1 ring (6 seconds) to 6 rings (36 seconds). Select Save.

If you're talking phone company voicemail and not your phone or phone systems answering device go here select the service you're talking about and you should find what you're looking for.

I used the handset Menu/Select button and scrolled down the list to set up <4 rings before answering machine picks up the incoming call.

Incoming messages won't be sent to the voicemail.

"If you choose to use an answering machine instead of voicemail, you will need to set your answering machine to pickup calls before voicemail, which is fewer than 4 rings."

You can also go into your MyAtt account and go to the phone features and extend or turn off your phone company voicemail. As stated earlier in this topic.

Hi Spoom2:

My landline phone answering machine stopped recording all incoming messages. "Voice mailbox not set up yet."

After "Go to Account overview > " at my MyAtt account, I couldn't find those links explained on Google:

"My digital phone > Check or manage voicemail & features. On the Voicemail Settings tab, scroll to General Preferences"

(Did some of the website options/settings change?)

At any rate, after three days of searching my MyAtt account for those steps listed, I canceled Call Forwarding, and the voicemail picked up the message.  Okay, progress. It's complicated.

Subsequently, I searched through the answering machine options on my landline phone handset, set the # rings to 3 rings, and the answering machine picked up the incoming messages with the new settings.

If your phone was forwarded than your answering machine wouldn't answer. As far as not being able to follow the steps to access the phone features online, not sure what to tell you as it works for others. Account overview is going to be after you've accessed your MyAtt account. Features in the Phone Portal also Turn voicemail on or off
