Visual voicemail charges for new lines

I added two lines a couple of weeks ago. I have a total of 5 lines.

I have been charged $14.67 for each new line I added for visual voice mail on top of the per line fee.

There's no option to turn off the visual voicemail feature either in the ATT app or website.

Note that this VVM charge only appears in the two lines I added and not on the other lines. All phones are iPhones (6s, X, Xmax, SE 2020) except one (Samsung).

This feature was added w/o my consent. I have already raised an issue with the ATT customer support and waiting to hear from them.

I noticed that this has been discussed before in this forum. But contrary to what the others posted, this does not look like the standard per-line fee but rather an add-on which was never requested by the end user.

Will keep you posted after I discuss this with ATT tomorrow.

It will look more or less exactly like all your other lines.  It does sound like it's prorated, do you see dates?

All of your lines would have notations very similar to what is in the photograph below.

(it's an old plan, ignore prices)

Whatever the charge is for, it’s not for visual voicemail. There is no charge for visual voicemail.

Thank you @sandblaster & @lizdance40

You guys nailed it. I called ATT (3rd time's a charm) and the knowledgeable Rep explained the charges. And indeed these are pro-rated for the two lines that were added around the middle of last month.

Having said that, I should say that the line item is pretty darn confusing and it's hard to decipher.

Why can't AT&T list it in plain English so users need not waste time in calling them many times. In fact some of the At&t employees do not understand what this is. What a shame!

Thanks again! You guys rock!
