UPDATE ANDROID TO MODERN TIMES
I have an LG-E970. (I know next to nothing). I think i need to update the version of Android the phone is running if i want to get many APPS. The phone is currently saying it is non-compatible with many of the APPS i try to download from the PLAY STORE. Going into settings and clicking the update phone/software button, does nothing ("software is up to date" it'll inform me). The phone is running ANDROID VERSION 4.1.2.
CAN ANYONE SHOW ME / TEACH ME HOW TO GET A BETTER, MORE CURRENT ANDROID SYSTEM ON THE PHONE, SO I CAN DOWNLOAD APPS? If possible. Thank you very much.

That is a 5 year old phone and probably isn't going yo get any further updates.
According to GSM Arena the latest update is the current one you have. https://www.gsmarena.com/lg_optimus_g_e970-5062.php

In other words, your phone is too old for any updates. If you want the latest android os, you need a new phone.
