text transcriptions of voicemail not working
Hey @PRIORTONOW! Let's take a look at why your text transcriptions of voicemail is not working.
What type of device do you have? This will help us determine if your device is eligible for visual voicemail.
If you have an Apple device, some iPhones provide text transcriptions of your voicemail messages:

If you do not have an Apple device, you can visit our AT&T website and select Wireless>Phones & devices, then view other devices we offer that do support Visual Voicemail transcription. (You can read about device features and specs by selecting device help.)
Also, here's a reminder of what's required for Visual Voicemail:

So, I have restored the voicemail transcription. The solution (strangely) had to do with Siri. After turning Siri ON the transcription of voicemails returned! I have subsequently turned Siri back OFF, and the feature remains active. I do believe that when I checked NOT USEFUL to the "Was this transcription useful or not useful" sometime in the past I disabled the feature at that moment.

Transcription only works on iPhones, and Google pixel, because it is a feature of the phone. If you have some other sort of Android device, voice transcription is not available.
Re: text transcriptions of voicemail not working. Thank you to those who responded. I should have provided more information. I have an iPhone 8 using iOS 15.3.1. My wife's phone is exactly the same and her voicemail transcription works! I have cycled power to the phone. Naturally, I can hear the voicemail and on my wife's phone it displays the transcription as it is playing the voicemail. I receive all voicemails just fine. Weird, huh?
Thank you for the clarification @PRIORTONOW.
Since you do have a compatible device, there are two fixes we can try here:
If these tips aren't effective for you, we'll need a little more context in order to proceed.
We look forward to your response so that we can get this resolved for you. Thank you for reaching out to our AT&T Community.

So, here is the latest from my trouble-shooting:
Try resetting your network settings. To do this, go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset [Device] > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Did this - no help.
Try clearing the app cache for your Voicemail app. Go to Settings > Apps > (your voicemail app) > Storage > Clear cache. Cannot find this in Settings on iPhone 8
My wife's identical iPhone 8 displays "Was this transcription useful or not useful" below the transcription of the voicemail. Could I have answered NOT USEFUL sometime in the past and therefore eliminated the feature? This would seem to be something that would have to be re-instated on AT&T's end.

SOLUTION - for me iPhone 13 Pro - Siri had to be on (turned off and back on), along with Hey Siri (not sure it’s important). but the BIGGEST thing was Siri voice and language - somehow Siri was set to Australian English. it HAS to be US-English for language and Siri voice (man/woman/gay woman/gay man/gender binary).
How can we improve?
