Why is AT&T capping my hotspot
Since recently I am stuck with a puny 10gb limit. I live about 15 miles away from any real town. I had (up until now) very fast internet which I was using for games, and my work, and I also was doing some stuff in the cyber security field. As of now I have slow internet and after going over the 10 gb limit which was NOT in the contract when I signed up (which I checked, by the way) and my internet connection is slowed to unusable speeds within the first couple hours of me using it. This was not in the contract and I am still on the contract I signed about a year or two back. I am leaving and chances are I am going to sue.

Yes it was. The 10GB hotspot limit has been there since the unlimited plus plan was first introduced. They just haven’t enforced it until now. Not sure what it was that you checked but I guarantee the 10GB limit on hotspot was always there.

Read your plan. It caps the hotspot at 10 gigs. ATT finally is enforcing it.

It was in the original terms and conditions. Cellular is never going to be suitable replacement for wired broadband. Just isn't enough capacity.
"Unlimited Plus plan will now include 10 GB of mobile-hotspot data, which lets you use your phone as a portable router. Once you hit that limit, mobile-hotspot speeds will be throttled to 128 Kbps, which is close to slow 2G speeds."
