What happens if I stream from Netflix using a first responder's unlimited hotspot?

Ok, so hypothetically speaking.  We just signed up for at&t.  Where we moved, there is no option for high speed internet other than satellite and 4g.  I have a netgear 4g modem.  (I might use the at&t provided 4g hotspot instead.)  I'd like to hook it up to my home router so our whole house has internet.  I can put restrictions on it to stop my kids from using netflix, hulu, etc... But, what happens if one of my kids figures out a way around it and starts streaming something I didn't think to catch?  Is it a 3 strikes your out, one strike your out, or what?

Unlimited Premium  includes a 50gb hotspot (per line), not unlimited.

Ok, when we went to the AT&T Store, they said, if we get a hotspot, it's unlimited.  There are no data limits when they'll slow you down.  But, you cannot stream.  When I say hotspot, I mean an actual hotspot device.  A separate device than your smart phone that all it can do is be a hotspot.  Not enabling the hotspot on a smart phone.

The hotspot hasn't been added to our plan yet.  They didn't have the hotspot I wanted in stock, so I ordered it on amazon.  I'll head to the store after I get it to have it activated.  I'll ask again.

You are obviously talking about a hotspot device. The store is wrong. You can not add a hotspot device to any unlimited phone plan. You will need a separate plan for the hotspot device. There is a prepaid 100GB plan for $55.

No, I'm not talking about adding the hotspot to the phone plan.  I understand it's a separate plan.  They just said that the extra line is unlimited data.  I just read through the fine print under the first responder's plan within the firstnet's login and I can't find any mention of any data limits like you do find when you look under consumer's plans.

I am not familiar with the specifics of Firstnet but I’m very skeptical they allow unlimited data for a hotspot device. However, presuming they do but don’t allow streaming, I’m pretty sure you won’t have to worry about your kids streaming Netflix or any other video. If Firstnet specifically blocks streaming, it’s done at the network level, not at the hotspot device. It shouldn’t matter what restrictions you’ve set or missed.

That makes sense if they just block it all from their side.

It looks like streaming might only be prohibited on the First Priority service not just will the regular plans. Can you post a screenshot of where you saw that streaming wasn't allowed?

I don't have a link or evidence to backup what I'm saying.  The lady at the at&t store told us this stuff.  We switched partially on what she told us which were going to incure a big Verizon bill to pay off the devices.  Everything I'm stating as a "fact" is from word of mouth of an at&t rep at our local at&t store.  I didn't get her stating it on voice recording, so I guess if they deny this when we go back, I'll have nothing.

AT&T won’t pay off your phones or any Verizon bill

Unless you see it on the AT&T website, offers made in a store may or may not be valid...especially if it's an Authorized Retailer.  They've been known to offer you anything to get a sale.

I wasn't expecting at&t to pay off my Verizon bill or phone.  If there's no data limits, it will save us money so we switched based on what the at&t rep told us.  If we can't get that deal, then we switched and paid for new phones for nothing and it was a waste.

Originally, when I went into the store, all I wanted was a Hotspot device.  But, they said I couldn't purchase a Hotspot without having a phone also with at&t.  So, then I had my wife come to the store seeing she's the first responder and we switched over everything based on what they told us.

Sounds like an authorized retailer to me.

No, it wasn't an authorized retailer.  It was an AT&T store.  Here's the store info.
