Verification Codes

For the last several months I can not get verification codes from websites. I’ve tried soft shutdown & making sure they are not blocked. Our local AT&T rep said this was a glitch in their system & there was not a fix. How can this be? Lots of websites use verification codes. Can anyone help please.

We understand how important it is to receive verification codes, fftinnell.

 

There are a few steps you can do when you can't receive verification codes.

  • In most devices, you can allow Premium messages through Settings > Applications > Application Manager > Messages > Send Premium Messages. You want to make sure that either “Never Ask” or “Ask” is checked (and not “Never Allow”).
  • Do a quick test to see if you are receiving any other Short Codes.
    • An easy test is to call *3282# like you're making a call. You should receive a free text message from our short code about your data usage.
    • If you have prepaid service with us, use *777# to receive a text back with your account and feature balances.
    • If you do not receive a text back, there may be an issue with text messaging on your phone. Try resetting the network settings.

If you're still unable to receive the verification codes after performing those steps, please let us know the following details:

  • What's the make and model of your device? That will help us determine the next step.
  • Do you have the ActiveArmor app installed? In some cases, it can block text messages.
  • Does this occur on both data and Wi-Fi? That will let us know if we need to take a closer look at a tower nearby.
  • Are you unable to receive codes from multiple websites, or just certain ones? That way we know if we need to take a look at a specific number.
