Unable to receive texts from some people, but can receive pictures from them

Extremely frustrated as I switched from Verizon to ATT, ported my number on Monday when I received my new Galazy S23 Ultra. I had no idea but I was not receiving texts from one person Tuesday. Spent 3 hours on with help. Verified the imie, ic#, he reset my card on network, he had to call me back multiple times while resetting things, he remoted into my phone, and somehow I started receiving texts from the person I wasn't able able earlier.  We thought it was fixed, but sadly, I find out today 3 more people in my office can not text me. Again, I can get pictures, but no text. 

I chatted with help desk today, who then told me to call porting. 

I called porting help, told me it looks like I amon ATT network, so forwarded me to customer service. Run through the situation again, she says sounds like porting issue then refers me to Loyalty service. Sadly and very frustrating, I was forwarded to business, not consumer.  I call the next number she gives me and this person says the porting help is closed. 

I am hoping someone has had this happen and that they were able to fix it. I am so frustrated I am now wishing I had not changed. 😞 

I am worried it won't be fixed and not sure what my options are. I really don't want to change numbers.

While there are a few reasons why your phone may not be able to receive text and picture messages, there are several steps you can take that can help should that trend ever occur on your device again.

 

Check out those details at  Not getting texts or pictures – Help & Solutions from the AT&T Community. You'll find helpful tips including recommendations to Restart your device. Sometimes, reconnecting to the network is the best way to get you back into the action.

 

Also, depending on the operating system on your device, be sure messaging is on.

  • iOS devices: Go to Settings, then Message, and turn iMessage off and back on.
  • Android devices: Go to Settings, then Advanced Messaging, and turn Advanced Messaging off and back on.

I also am having exact same issue. I also switched from Verizon, I have been on phone with support and also went to the store the service guy said this is happening to everyone.

Receiving text messages is important, Lealall6, especially in this day and age. Let's meet in a Direct Message (DM) to discuss why you are now unable to receive messages from your contacts.

 

Please check your Direct Message Inbox for a message being sent to you. Look for the chat icon next to the bell icon in the upper right corner of the Forums page.

 

Meanwhile, here is one other step you can try that can help with your experience:

  • Was your previous device an iPhone? When iMessage is in use, it may prevent Android users such as yourself from receiving the message. This is because iMessage uses servers that do not communicate with AT&T. Try resolving your experience by turning off iMessage, then test the results.

I'm also having the same issue with my phone.  Ive been to my local store twice and have spent several hours on the phone with att support.  No one can tell me what's wrong with my phone and has no clue how to fix it.  I'm so frustrated with this issue.

I've also been dealing with sending and receiving text messages the past 2 weeks! I've talked to at&t customer service and a team member in the store and still have not been able to resolve the issue! I also got a replacement phone and its still doing the same thing! its so frustrating!

This same issue started happening with our two phones about a month ago.  Images are being received but not SMS texts from certain people.  We use Boost Mobile, which from my understanding leverages the ATT networks.
