Text from 11112021

I just received a potential spam text from the number 11112021, promoting a Mother's Day deal. I am unsure if this is real, and it provides a link in the message that seems it could be, but I refuse to click on the link in case it's not.

The text reads; "Hi, it's AT&T. This Mother's Day, say thanks to the mom in your life. Moms do it all, so we've got deals to make their life just a little bit easier. Learn how to get iPhone 13 Pro Max for up to $700 off when you trade-in an eligible phone at att.com/mothersdaydeals. Reply STOP to end mktg msgs."

Is this real? Has anyone else received this message or similar messages? I cannot find anything on these forums about this.

I got the same text, I’m pretty sure it’s real. Regardless of whether it’s real or not, don’t ever click links in texts you aren’t sure of. The “deal” they are promoting isn’t any different than what they’ve had for months anyway. You can always go to att.com to see the latest deals.

Don't click the link!

I received a message from the same number, this time saying:

AT&T Free msg: Did you know 5G service is already included with your wireless plan? If you upgrade to a 5G compatible phone you can enjoy AT&T 5G - Fast. Reliable. Secure. Learn more at att.com/5Gphones Reply STOP to end messages.

First of all, I do regularly get text messages from AT&T, from the number 7535.

Secondly, it seems that whoever these people are, they are trying to play off of a different number from which AT&T sometimes sends texts.

You can go to https://forums.att.com/conversations/wireless-account/text-from-11112009/6172f6539499cd30c505878c to find a similar conversation about a text from 11112009, which is verified by ATTHELP to be legitimate.

Clicking on links provided by these Spam bots, though the name of the link as presented may seem unharmful, will actually send you somewhere you don't want to be, and will expose your data to people who will use it to steal from you.
