Spam text messages sent from email addresses and not phone numbers.

I havent been able to get anywhere with customer service and tech support on the issue of stopping spam text messages that are sent to my phone from various email addresses.

Cannot flag them as spam or submit them to att because att requires a phone number to report text messages.

I tried to call and request that my phone not allow text messages from email, but that seemed to do nothing. Im not sure the support team that is outside the US completely understands what I am saying because of the lack of comprehension of the english language.

I talked to a state-side rep and they told me to download an application to my phone that would block spam texts and phone calls. It didn't block any texts, so they were mistaken on what that app is used for. App in question is the ATT Call Protect.

Called for a third time and once again got a service rep that I could barely hear and understand. Still getting spam texts; about 5 per day.

ATT needs a better chat feature and an email feature. Calling into a center that is in a different continent where its hard to fully convey an issue on top of a poor phone connection is not an appropriate solution.

Yes, you can forward those to 7726. When you get the response asking for the phone number, reply with the email address. Even though you will get another response asking for the phone number, ignore it. That has worked for me. I’ve not gotten any more spam texts from any email address I’ve reported.

The problem being, like with robocalls; blocking an individual email address doesnt stop the issue. When scammers have an almost endless list of email addresses to use and phone numbers to harrass people with.

I have tried what you specified, and it didnt work for me, since i never get a message from the same email address twice.
