Some contacts not receiving my sms messages

Since May some of my contacts are no longer receiving my sms messages UNLESS I attach an image, which sends as mms.  Not 100% sure, but the affected contacts all appear to be on other networks (Verizon, etc)

I receive all sms messages, it's just the ones I am sending that are not received.  If contacts are on AT&T & have chat function enable, they receive, but these msgs are not going via sms.

I've gone through troubleshooting resets, etc w/ AT&T customer service twice, and even replaced the SIM card with a newer one.  Any ideas on how to fix this?  Super frustrating because I have no idea who is receiving msgs & who is not.

Hello @lkmcneil, we are here to help you see why you cannot send your text messages.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention via the Community Forums! This is a very interesting issue, but I’d be more than happy to assist you with resolving this.

Have you heard of our Troubleshoot & Resolve Tool? It’s like having your own personal technical support assistant! Once here, choose your device and select Messaging under Service/network issues. Answer all the questions as accurately as possible to receive the best resolution.

Resetting network settings is a great way to troubleshoot network related issues. You can do this by going to Settings > Backup & Reset > Reset Network Settings; ensure you restart the device after doing this. You might need to re-enter your Wi-Fi password to reconnect to your wireless network.

Not only that, but you can also try turning off Advanced Messaging to see if it helps; this can be done by going to the Messages app > Menu > Settings > Advanced Messaging > Off. Restart the device then test to see if it works. You can get info about the AT&T Message app here.

We would like to ask what make and model is the device you are using? By sharing the device model it will help us determine how to assist you with your messaging.

If you need any more assistance after completing this, please let us know!

Hello Danielle:
Thank you for the reply.

Yes, I've used the Troubleshoot & Resolve tool, reset my network settings (w/ a restart afterwards).  I've also verified the Message Center Number (SMSC), and it matches AT&T's number.  I was going to re-enter the SMSC number to see if that helps, but it doesn't show as an editable field.

re: Advanced Messaging

I use the Google messaging app.  It does not have the option of turning off "Advanced Messaging" -- perhaps it is labeled as turning off the "chat features"--  which uses wi-fi or data for messaging.  I've tried this too.

I've also tried using other messaging apps (Samsung, Pulse) to see if the problem was with the app. It didn't correct the problem.  I've uninstalled & reinstalled the Google messaging app.

My phone is a Samsung S10e, operating system is Android 12.

The last security patch that was downloaded for it was May 1 and it was soon after that that I noticed the problem.  Maybe there is a connection?  or it could just be a timing coincidence.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated :)
