Not getting data connection in Zimbabwe
Hi I'm currently in Harare Zimbabwe. My phone appears to be connecting to the local provider, but I have no data connection. My phone was able to connect on the international day pass while in South Africa last week. I've checked all the settings, have restarted my phone, reset all the data options, all to no avail. On this web site I verified that I do have International Day Pass currently. I tried calling the international support number, 314 925 6925, but was not able to get through. I am planning to travel through Europe in a few days and am concerned about my ability to get data access when I need it. Any advice or suggestions about what could be wrong or how to fix it would be appreciated.

It's not you, or your phone. It's just that Zimbabwe does not have the same level of coverage as South Africa. Looking at the coverage map there's a lot of areas that say voice/messaging only, and 2g.
If other people are able to connect, ask them what service provider they are using and see if you can manually switch to that service provider in settings

The connections seem fairly dodgy here in Zim. Everyone in the family reports that sometimes data connection is lost, and at least one other member hasn't been able to get a connection at all either. My wife's phone connects and gets data; it's a late model One Plus running Android 13, but the name of the carrier doesn't show in her settings. The connection status icon shows an "R" next to the signal strength, which apparently means "roaming". My phone will only connect to Telecel Zim, the state owned and bottom ranked provider in the country. It can see, but won't connect to other providers: ZW NET*ONE or ZW ECONET.

Call ATT 1.314.925.6925 and ask ATT to enable carrier selection on your phone so you can manually select a network

I gave up on this.... The support line wasn't open when I called (which seemed odd for an international support line), and at this point I'm close to safe wifi often enough that I can live without the data connection. I'll be leaving in another couple of days and have already done all the travel around the country I'm planning. Thanks for the responses.
