Nearby restaurant using customer phone number for over-sea spamming?

We  frequent a small carry-out restaurant that uses the customers phone number to identify the order for pick-up (it is call-in or on-line order only).
Without fail- within a week of eating there, we start getting spam texts from overseas for phone (Edited per community guidelines)/porn etc...
What can we do to stop this without shutting down our favorite sushi place?

It’s nothing to do with the restaurant it’s coincidental.

Receiving inappropriate spam texts is indeed annoying @MissDeb63!

Allow us to extend you a helping hand with Blocking Unwanted Calls and Texts!

If experiencing spam messages on your device, you can Report and Forward Them to 7726 (Spam). From there, you can provide further info on the unwanted number and then click Submit

There are also other options such as the AT&T Call Protect App to help block spam calls, as well as using 3rd-party blocking apps that is compatible with your AT&T wireless service and device.

You can access the articles above for more details to get started.

We this information is helpful, and have a good weekend!

ADDED NOTE: this is not coincidental-- as I NEVER get spam texts!
And this is a small, family run take out place- then I suddenly get ALL 'Asian-girls want to.....' Type spam.  I immediately block the numbers and it doesn't happen again until after we go back to THAT restaurant... it is only once every 3 months or so, and I do not frequent any other places that could get my UNLISTED number!

So quit going there if they are abusing or selling your information.  I wouldn't care how good their food was if they treated the customers as you're indicating they don't deserve the repeat business.  That's a no brainer to me.

AT&T can't make them stop, file a police complaint. Not sure what you expect AT&T to do, they aren't law enforcement.  Have you talked to the owner? You have means to stop it if you want.

Since home phones don't receive text and ATTHelp gave the OP several options, I'm moving this to the wireless forum to see if anyone has a better suggestion for the OP.

1. Talk to the police.

2. Use a home phone.

2. Change your phone number.

Would you like to share the name of this restaurant near you?

Get a Google voice number.  You can use the virtual number, calls will be forwarded to your application on your AT&T phone. But you can mute the notifications.
