Managed Networks AT&T WiFi Passpoint

Under my saved wifi on my Apple13 Iphone under known networks there is a section called managed networks.  Under that is AT&T Wi-Fi Passport with the locked symbol on it next to the ion symbol. When I click on the symbol it is toggled to Auto-join and private Wi-Fi Address.  Okay my question is: is this part of my sim card or is this a paid service from AT&T? Do you need a paid WiFi service from AT&T to have this?

So based on your answer I assume you are telling me that in my home I have some sort of ATT internet service? That is why I have the managed network setting on my iphone?  I thank you for your reply and I agree with you.  Just the wireless portion of ATT and what I have gone through has been awful to say the very least.

We'll be happy to shed light on our Wi-Fi Passpoint, @Snapsnappy1234.

AT&T Passpoint Wi-Fi is a standardized hotspot technology that automates secure roaming between AT&T cellular and Boingo Wi-Fi networks for an improved connected experience. It automatically switches your device between Wi-Fi networks to help stay connected. Wi-Fi roaming on Passpoint- certified networks is available to AT&T subscribers at no additional charge, and It is not a part of your sim card.

Sorry to be dumb, but are you saying that that this needs to be set up between my att account and boingo?  It just doesn't happen because I have AT&T.  You need to go to the Boingo site and sign up for it?

Thank you for reaching out to us, @numberSync224.

As long as you have Wi-Fi turned on, there is nothing you, as the customer, needs to do to connect. To connect to Passpoint :

  1. Turn on Wi-Fi.
  2. From the device Wi-Fi menu, go to the Advanced or More section (depending on device).
  3. Select the Passpoint or Hotspot 2.0 checkbox to turn on. To turn off, clear the checkbox.

Make sure your certificate is still valid by going to Settings, General, and Profile on your device.

I’m not sure exactly why the “AT&T PASSPOINT, “ has a lock icon next to it and under this is “AT&T” with no icon next to it.  However,  when taking private Wi-Fi mode off, the WI-FI IP ADDRESSES FOR BOTH THE LOCKED ICON ATT PASSPOINT AS WELL AS THE AT&T with no icon BOTH HAVE SAME ADDRESS AS MY WI-FI ADDRESS ON THIS IPHONE 13, what even is this?

How do you get this profile loaded onto an unlocked Pixel 6?
