I'm not able to send or receive SMS messages

I can get iMessages, but my SMS messages are not coming through or being sent out.

My phone works to make calls, and I've installed the latest software updates and ran though as many times as your unhelpful support has told me to shut it off and turn it back on.

I'm still not able to send or receive SMS messages.

Please help.

Hi there @kariisfrustrated, we'd love to help with your SMS messages.

  • Is the correct phone number on the SIM installed on the phone?
    • SMS/MMS texts come in to the phone number on the installed SIM.
  • Are you experiencing this issue with all group messages or only non iPhone users?
    • iMessages come in to the iCloud ID that the phone is set up for.  Not getting SMS texts suggests that the SIM isn’t set up for the number.

Sign out of both FaceTime and iMessage for thirty seconds. When you sign back in, make sure there's a check mark next to your number then follow these steps:

  1. From the Home screen, go into Settings.
  2. Scroll to and select Messages.
  3. Make sure the SMS setting is enabled.

If you're still not receiving texts after this, let us know.
