Hello @MIUser,
Thanks for reaching out to us.
The above commenters are correct!
If you're an AT&T PREPAID customer, you can learn how to Add a data add-on at the link provided.
If you're a postpaid AT&T wireless customer, your monthly plan will determine how much more data you're able to use during this monthly period.
Let us know if you have any other questions.

That depends on what plan you have. Depending on what plan you have, there may not be any option to buy more data.

Postpaid plans have no option to add additional data. Depending on what plan you have additional data may be added for you as an overage charge. Prepaid does have the ability to add additional data.
If you are on postpaid and need more data and cannot add any your only other option is to switch to a different plan that offers more data. Right now the unlimited data plans are quite reasonablely priced.

Sad, I am post pay and occasionally go over plan. At these prices there is no way I am going to increase my plan but i wouldn't mind throwing ATT$20 here and there as needed. Your loss, it's usually just a few days i have to wait but as I said, here and there... money lost ;-)

I agree with dune. It (Edited per community guidelines) that there is no way to purchase a la carte. My situation is such that a computer backup put me over my data limit on my home internet. I suspended the backup, and connected my router to my phone via usb tethering, to limp by on lower quality streaming for our TV.
This would typically use 4 or 5GB over the five days. We normally only use 6-8GB of our 20GB on our postpaid plan. Not a problem. However, in the middle of the night, my backup application on my computer decided to automatically restart the backup upload which I had suspended because it had originally caused the overage on the home internet. It also happened that our postpaid plan reset to the next month at midnight. So we woke up to notification that we had used up all of our data and would be throttled to 128kbps until Feb 28. Freaking fantastic. Lesson learned and I should not have left the tether on when we weren't actively using it.
I would be happy to pay $20 or even $30 bucks for an extra 4GB of data to get us through this month.

So switch to prepaid.
Prepaid does offer the ability to add extra data or renew your plan early. They have hotspot plans for as much as 100 gigs $55 for 30 days
Prepaid data only plans can be used on a tablet or a dedicated hotspot device.

How can you go over your data limit if you're on an unlimited plan?

@the_bunny You can’t. However, even unlimited plans have a point where data speeds may be slowed so you may get a warning you are reaching that “limit”.
