Why Direct TV and AT&T Lost 10 Billion in 30 days After Deplatfroming NewsMax and OAN
I want to express my displeasure with your decision to deplatform Newsmax TV. It was a terrible decision, and as a result, we will be cancelling our 5 phone cell phone coverage with you after 11 years. You go woke you go broke.

Do you have a link to a verified source about the $10B loss?
Newsmax was carried for free on DirecTV for a long time. Newmax decided they wanted DirecTV to start paying them a huge sum of money to carry their station. They went into negotiations but neither party could agree so Newsmax pulled its network feed. Happens to all providers from time to time when carriage agreements come due and the affiliate/station owners want more money. Business as usual. Newsmax may come back some day if carriage fees are more agreeable to AT&T and the stockholders. Until then, stream it for free on their website or switch to someone like Comcast who still carries Newsmax, for now.
Woke? Seriously?

0tt0Ply0t0: You speak like a high level AT&T executive/insider/(Edited per community guidelines) !!!!!! That's very interesting.
FACT: Since DirecTV dropped Newsmax on Jan. 24, AT&T's stock has fallen by almost 7%, wiping nearly $10 billion from its market value.

I have a product.
I'm giving it to your friend for free.
I demand you pay for it.
And that's NewsMax.

Verifiable source? And if true, that's AT&T's problem not mine. I don't subscribe to DirecTV. Never have, never will. And to be clear, Newsmax pulled its network feed because DirecTV wouldn't cave in to their monetary demands. That's good business. DirecTV didn't drop them.

Even if true, no knowledgeable analyst would say that is solely due to NewsMax. Look at the stock’s history, swings like that are quite normal.
@OttoPylot ATT stock closed at $19.16 on 1/24. It actually initially went up right after but today’s close was $18.66, roughly a 3% drop from 1/24 but means absolutely nothing because the stock has always gone up and down like that. Actually when the OP posted this two days ago, the stock price was at $19.03, so nowhere close to their 7% claim but again still meaningless. Anyone claiming this particular drop is because of NewsMax is not anyone I’d want doing my financial planning.

@sandblaster It's unfortunate that folks don't get their financial "facts" from any number of respectable financial reporting services and not just something they were spoon-fed. It also helps if they understand how the markets work.

@OttoPylot That was my test post. I'm thinking (hoping) that the meme that mysteriously disappeared was just a fluke.

@eyenet2u Yes, OANN and Newsmax are gone but you can get (at least on Uverse) The First TV on 1220 (Newsmax's old spot). The First TV is (Edited per community guidelines) TV on steroids. It's (Edited per community guidelines) TV turned up to an 11 (Spinal Tap reference). It is mind-blowing (Edited per community guidelines) TV. It should fill the void left by both OANN & Newsmax.
Personally, I think Newsmax got a little big for their britches and wanted mega bucks from AT&T. AT&T knew that The First TV was a fledgling (Edited per community guidelines) TV network and got it at a bargain.
That's my 2 cents. Spend it wisely.
