att share investment advice due to strip off of w bros

Not sure this is the correct forum as it relates to equity.

Due to the strip off of warner bros, the T market share dropped from about $24.5 to $18.5 and each T share owner  was given .24 of a share in the new WBD equity. So for 3000 T shares , I collected 720 shares of WBD .

The drop in T price and the possession of 720 WBD shares was about equivalent and therefore I had not shown any gain in the overall maneuver.

Nonetheless I was charged 20% (or 25%?) as if I had enjoyed a capital gain by income tax authorities even though there was no actual capital gain.

This was done by my broker in Israel at source.

Did the T share owners in the USA have the same deduction at source??? or was it only a local IRS action?

Did every T share owner who received WBD have to pay capital gains?

Thanks, but I am interested if any USA T equity owners had to pay American IRS capital gains tax on the WBD strip maneuver
