Switch from DSL to traditional landline

My parents in Lake Jackson, TX, currently have DSL with AT&T for phone and Internet but they hate it (it goes out whenever there's a power glitch, which happens frequently as they live in hurricane country) and they recently installed a medical alert system that only works effectively with a traditional landline or cellular (which they will not do). Does anyone know if AT&T will switch DSL back to a traditional landline and then have a separate line for Internet? Thank you!

If you're talking traditional DSL the phone line associated with it is a POTS line.  If you're talking Internet with digital phone service, I doubt you can get the POTS back all you can do is ask.  As far as phone goes out when loosing power if they use anything except a corded phone it will go out and they can always put a battery backup on it.
