AT&T EP5995 Cordless Phone Custom Ringtones Don't Work
I've had this phone for many years and one of the features I absolutely have loved is the ability to record special ringtones for all my friends and family. I know who's calling instantly based on the message or custom ringtone I have recorded for them. It's worked since the day I got the phone but all of a sudden, it's gone. It's just gone. The icons don't appear on the handset and the many tunes and messages I've recorded for all my frequent callers just don't work anymore. The AT&T helpline does not support these phones anymore and this question is not addressed in the FAQs. Everyone keeps telling me to just get a new phone and move on, but the newer phones don't seem to have this feature and I LOVE this feature! Is there anyone out there who can help me with this? I've already done the "unplug-and-take-out-the-batteries-and-wait-five-minutes" technique. Didn't do anything.
Thanks for any help anyone out there can give!

Here's the manual Try one and if it no longer works the feature could have gone bad. This is the first and only phone system that I've seen where you can play different melody's for different people in your directory.

Let's see if we can get your custom ringtone feature working again, @joy314!
You'll want to check out the user manual to find troubleshooting options and device settings for your phone. Just enter the model number of your phone, and you'll be able to access all that information.
Please let us know if this helps!

Thank you @ATTHelp. Unfortunately, there was nothing specific in the book to address the problem. Thanks for trying.
Thank you @spoom2. I have been wondering if it was simply a matter of whatever controlled that feature burning out. The icons don't even appear on the screen anymore. We've pretty much tried everything the book says and its a no-go. I may just have to move on. It's a fun feature, though. Sorry they didn't continue putting it into newer phones.
