Urgent Landline Repair

Been trying to contact AT&T directly to discuss a service outage for my elderly father-in-law. He is a fall risk and depends on his landline.  He has a landline only… No cell service, no internet.  AT&T says it will be repaired by January 5th at 5:30 EST.  This is unacceptable, as he would have no way to report an emergency between now and then.

Left message for AT&T support, but they have not called back within the promised timeframe.  Any suggestions?  They do acknowledge that the phone line issue is on their end via automated testing.

Same problem here . Hours on hold or they promise to call back but never do. Trying to forward my mom's phone temporarily (she is 98 and really needs her phone to work). Repeated repair failures... No one seems to do their job any longer at AT&T.
