Transferring my family's old land line to my home.

Hello,

I would like to transfer my parents landline to my home as a landline that I would assume billing for.  My parents have agreed to do it.  We have had that number since 1973. How would we do that?  Thank you for any help you can give.

First, figure out if you can get land line service to your home.  Or decide whether you'd rather have it via VOIP or a Cell phone.  Once you've decided what kind of service you want that number on, decide on the service provider.  If AT&T provides land line service where your home is, then that's just one of many possibilities you could explore.

Once you have your new service provider figured out, look on the current service bill for the full account number.  You'll need this.  The last 4 digits will be your PIN for the service.

Then go to your new prospective service provider and ask them if they can port your number.  If they say yes, then you can let them do so.
