Too many login attempts error

I tried to login in to att.com tonight to pay bills and I got error message of too many login attempts and was locked out. I was successful in changing my password and was able to login. I'm NOT trying to login multiple times. This happened back in May and it took AT&T THREE MONTHS to get me back into my account. I get important email and don't want to get locked out again. I called the number on my phone bill and after 15 minutes on hold the person who finally answered said he couldn't help me and was transferred to another person who couldn't help me and she transferred me to some automatic system and I couldn't get past the robot to anyone so I hung up. How can I get through to AT&T security? I think someone is trying to login in to my account multiple times and locking me out.

Found out the correct department to call is the Digital Assistance Department at 877-285-0144

Phred is a user name they provided a solution, but looks like for whatever reason the post was removed.  Complete user name is @57phred

spoom2, Thanks for solving the mystery! Maybe he was embarrassed by the lavish praise. I wish I could have seen that post. Actually, I was able to find the correct number to call in my previous post

Ok, Digital Assistance couldn't help me. I'm trying to work for a solution with the AT&T Executive Office, but I'm not hopeful.

I have the same problem, getting error message of too many login attempts on my very first attempt, but only on my desktop.  able to get email on iphone though.  there is no other way to fix this at&t issue without the customer having to call for assistance?
