Credit on closed account

I closed my land line account so I no longer have home phone services with ATT. I would pay monthly with my credit card on autopay. I have a $52 credit on my account. Does anyone know how that gets returned to me? Check? Back to my credit card? The ATT person I talked to did not know the answer for sure.

You will either receive a check or a prepaid debit card. How did you end up with a credit? Autopay normally only pays what is owed and leaves you with a $0 balance.

Service was cancelled 2/17/21. Autopay went through 3/8/21 despite the cancellation. I won't be seeing that credit returned as quick as they took it out in autopay!

You may not be seeing a credit at all. Your final month of service is not prorated. You pay for the full month whether you use it or not. If that 3/8 auto payment was for what you had already been billed for, there won’t be any credit.

Then why does it say "BALANCE....$52.75 CR" on my last bill? :-)

That would be a question for billing, not those on a public forum, we have no access to your account information.

So I get a North Lane debit card in the mail on 3/26/21 that has my rebate loaded on it. I have to activate the card over the phone so I do that. Then in order to access the funds other than just using the card in a transaction, I register the card. It won't let me do it on the weekend so I wait till Monday...today...fine. I register the card and see that I can have the money sent to me in a check!  So I go through a few more steps and have them send me the money as a check which I should get in 6 to 10 business days. LOL!  I'm sure ATT would say "It gives you more spending options" or "It's more secure" but the cynic in me thinks they do it this way with the hope that you will never use the card. I can't believe simply mailing me a paper check would have cost them more. At least they did not charge me a fee for having the money sent as a check.

closed landline November 10, but the bill was paid until the 26th o the month.  They owe me 16 days.  Been working with them since November and to date, I have not received my refund.  Have spoken to several reps but they don't either understand how to do a refund.  Have several ref numbers but that does not help either.  If I don't get a refund check I will go to the media to let people know how AT&T handles their accounts.  Now I am being threatened that my account will go to collection.

The don't prorate, you pay the entire billing cycle.
