Outlook 2021 setup
Following the instructions for Outlook 2016 because that was the latest available online here, but I'm not connecting to the server. imap.mail.att.net and smtp.mail.att.net settings haven't changed. I stopped receiving mail last week in Outlook program.

Hi there, @kjskrath. We understand that your email client has stopped getting emails. We can help with that.
Since you are using Outlook 2021, which is not fully supported by AT&T yet, we will attempt to supply you what you need.
First, let's look to see if you are still about to access the account. Please go to AT&T/Yahoo and use your full email address and password to sign in.
If you are able to sign in there, then we can move on. If not, then it is recommended to do a password reset.
If you needed to reset your password, then next step is to create a secure mail key. Once the secure mail key is created, then we can continue on to the next step.
The next step is to get the AT&T email server settings. Those settings are:
After grabbing those settings, make sure that you follow our guide for Outlook 2016 to manually set up the account in your new email client.
If you are still unable to setup the client, or you are unable to reset your password and create your secure mail key, please let us know.

Thank you...I had to recreate a new secure mail key. Do those expire after a certain time? By coincidence maybe my previous key was about three years old. Also, I created a new key for a secondary address, but I am still not receiving any mail through it in Outlook.

Thanks for coming back, kjskrath and letting us know that you are still unable to get your email in Outlook 2021. We can look at that together.
To answer your questions, no, the secure mail keys do not expire, they could have become corrupt. The secure mails keys are used for email clients such as Outlook and various others.
AT&T has had some security upgrades over the years. One of them was the creation of the secure mail keys, like we mentioned earlier, and the other was OAuth.
According to the information in the OAuth article above, there are several email apps the use OAuth.
As far as Outlook 2021 is concerned, which edition is it? Retail or 365? The reason why we need to know that is, so we can point you in the right direction or even find you the correct steps to use.
Also, what errors are you getting? The errors can explain a variety of things, such as. what settings maybe incorrect.
Looking forward to speaking more about this with you.

I'm assuming I have the retail version as it's just the one license. To clarify, I am getting email on my main account, but the secondary account still does not display any mail. No error message pops up so I think the new mail key should be working.

Thanks for coming back, kjskrath.
Here is a test that you can do to see if the account is able to send and receive email.
Please let us know if that test works for you.

I am having the exact same issue as kjskrath. Outlook 2021 was working fine, downloading messages from the server, then just stopped downloading as of today at 7am EST. Mail is being downloaded just fine to Yahoo mail on my iPhone. One thing I noticed is that in Outlook 2021, the program automatically changes the server settings from att back to the yahoo historical server settings. Strange that it was working, now not. Can view the mails perfectly fine on currently mail page.

The e-mail servers seem to get confused about which name they should be using and providing on certificates. I don't know why that is after 2 or 3 years in this state, but there you go. I would suggest using the Yahoo addresses if they work and trying the ATT addresses next time the Yahoo ones don't. What is likely happening is that Outlook is seeing the misconfiguration and trying to fix it but it's not exactly correct.

I checked what you suggested above. I sent a mail from the currently.yahoo mail page and it came into the other mail account just fine, and was able to reply just fine. In terms of symptoms, normally in outlook, when requesting to update folders, or send/receive all folders, one sees a message that would indicate the system is updating the inbox and processing / sending mails. But the updating inbox task isnt showing up

In reply to JefferMC, Outlook will not allow me to save the att servers, I can enter them, save, but when I go back into the settings to review, they have automatically reverted back to the yahoo servers
