Can't send or receive email using Windows Mail. I can send and receive email using a browser.
Can't send or receive email using Windows Mail, on a laptop running Windows 11 Home. I get the error message:
"We couldn't access the account. You might need to update your password or give the account permission to sync to this device."
Same situation with Apple mail on an iPhone. I can send and receive email using a browser, so I know I'm using the correct password.
With Windows Mail, I have updated the servers to match those shown on the AT&T website:
Incoming Mail Server: imap.mail.att.net:993:1
Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.mail.att.net:465:1
Any ideas?
Thanks, Karl

Obtain a Secure Mail Key and use that in place of the actual Password when setting up the account in Windows Mail.

Thanks! That worked. I saw that as an option, but the AT&T website indicated that a secure mail key is not needed for apps that use OAUTH. It would be very helpful if AT&T provided accurate information.

Windows Mail does not use oAuth. I'm not sure where you got the impression that it does.

I had this same problem and the secure key fixed it. However, now some random emails come in that are text computer coding instead of HTML. How do I fix this?

This is apparently a bug in Windows Mail. See the following (and other similar threads):
