AT&T IMAP settings vs Yahoo IMAP settings (and Secure Mail Key for Outlook)
Still troubleshooting a problem that recently started after an auto-update of Outlook for Mac (now version 16.73). Pacbell.net Inbox contents disappear at first server sync after one or more emails are deleted. Do another sync with "Send/Receive" and headers reappear with re-download of missing emails from AT&T/Yahoo IMAP servers.
When adding a Pacbell.net account to Outlook for Mac (Office 365, version 16.73.or 16.73.1), Outlook for Mac recognizes it as Yahoo and auto configures its IMAP settings to Yahoo. Then, no way to test or change to AT&T IMAP settings unless done manually from within the Outlook account settings for Pacbell.net. (AT&T settings appear to be more accurate in dealing with Junk vs Bulk mail designations [a long time problem with Outlook and AT&T]). Both ways get/send email and both ways have the contents deletion issue since the Outlook auto-update (It's only in Outlook for Mac). There's no problem with Mac Mail, iOS Mail, Yahoo Mail app and even Outlook app on iPhone).
My question is twofold:
1) Which IMAP setting is preferable Yahoo or AT&T? (note that AT&T seems to be more accurate when it comes to Junk vs. Bulk)
2) Whatever I do, should I get a new AT&T Secure Mail Key for the Outlook for Mac's Pacbell.net IMAP account (If so, just change it in the account settings in Outlook OR delete/re-add the account with the new Secure Mail Key? I ask this because some comments I've gotten from queries include, get a new Secure Mail Key. (BTW: Outlook for Mac has no O-Auth. Hence the need for the Key)
