add sbcglobal.net email to att.com for secure mail key

I am trying to generate a secure mail key to access my email, using Thunderbird.

I have an [email scrubbed] email address, but my U--Verse account is under _____.att.com. I have been using the [email scrubbed] email for years. When I login to my U-Verse account, I'm using the ____.att.com userid so the only email account that is displayed as ____@att.com which apparently doesn't exist. I had been using inbound.att.com and outbound.att.com as my servers with an IMAP email. How can I add the [email scrubbed] email address to my account? I've tried using OAuth on inbound.att.com, but I get a message that it is not compatible with inbound.att.com. I've tried OAuth on imap.att.yahoo.com, but it doesn't find the ____@att.com address.

Hey @alumpezdek, We understand that you're having trouble creating a Secure Mail Key. Don't worry, we can help with that.

Are you logging in with the email account your trying to create the key for?
You would need to login with the email your trying to create the key for.
The email settings that you are showing are not the correct server settings
These are the correct server settings

POP3 http://sm.att.com/e410f2e4 995 Yes http://sm.att.com/7d840c18 465

IMAP http://sm.att.com/4403ee40 993 Yes http://sm.att.com/94b83b97 465 or 587

Create a secure mail key

Learn how to create a secure mail key from your mobile device, tablet, or computer.
Have your User ID and password ready to sign in to myAT&T.

Go to Profile > Sign-in info.
Select the email account that you want to get a secure mail key for. (You’ll find a drop-down menu at the top if you have multiple accounts.)
Scroll to Secure mail key and select Manage secure mail key.
If you have more than one email address, select the one you want to use.
Select Add secure mail key.
Enter a nickname for the secure mail key to make it easier to recognize.
Select Create secure mail key.
Select Copy secure mail key to clipboard. (Jot down your secure mail key, so you have it handy if you have to update an email app on several devices.)
- For security purposes, the secure mail key only shows until you select OK.
- If you lose or forget the secure mail key, you can create new secure mail keys as needed.
Select OK.
Go to your preferred email app and replace the existing password with your secure mail key. (For an IMAP account, delete the existing password for both the IMAP and SMTP servers and replace them with your secure mail key.)

I keep getting emails saying that my AT&T email must be updated or my account will be closed. Is this true? I typically do not click on links that I do not request, but the email wants me to click on a link and update information. Is it safe to do that?

I keep trying to set up secure key for new email, today, and am in loop - get to setting and no matter what i click on it logs me out, and prompts back to log in.
