Yahoo Mail Keeps Logging Me Out!!!

After reading my emails for about 10 minutes, I can't open any more emails. When I refresh the page, I keep getting logged out and have to log in again to continue reading my emails.

@mdtexas     I had to change my password 3 times in less than two hours one day..but realized on the 3rd time,  I didn't have to change the password.. I just typed in the same password I had been using...  so far that is working... so still have the same password but it's still a pain to have them log me out and then when I try to go back in, it says I attempted to log in too many times when I hadn't.    I had that issue with my bank one time where after the first try to log in, said I tried too many times.. I got them on the phone and told them what it did and in 5 minutes, they fixed it and I've never had the problem with them again... It shouldn't be that hard to fix this problem with AT&T.. but they don't seem to care and that's sad...

I haven't had the problem of having to log in all the time right now.. I stay up all day, every day for about 2 weeks before it bumps me off and I have to log back in... but when I have to log in, I go through the same garbage of having to reset my password and we shouldn't have to do that.... When you get bumped out, you should be able to log right back in  with no issues..

As of now I have an open session of email staying logged in on 2 separate computers at my house. This has been a few hours so much better than getting logged off every 10 or 15 minutes. And to be clear I was not active on those computers for the few hours.

My next test will see if I can keep logged in with more than 1 session (multiple tabs) on the same computer. I'll post the results when I find out.

So I'm not sure if going ahead & entering the 2-step verification process fix this issue or as mentioned above Yahoo has notified their development team & maybe they fixed it.

This is what I mentioned I did earlier in regard to the 2-step verification process...

"Only difference I made was as follows... I don't like giving my cell number out so at some point, months ago, Yahoo started asking me for 2-step verification. I would sign-in, Yahoo would say answer these 2 security questions & add your mobile number. Since I didn't want to do that I could just hit "back" & it would take me to either the AT&T home page or directly to my email inbox.

Thinking this could have something to do with me always getting "logged-out" I responded today to those 2 security questions & my cell number. Now I'm not getting logged out."

Elmi @ AT&T support,

Not so fast to assume my issue is resolved... I think there are still issues. Unless you can tell me the AT&T engineers have fixed the problem on their end??? Or that it was a known problem that if we customers did not go thru the 2-step verification security process that we would be logged off every 10 to 20 minutes? Can you verify any of the above?

It is mindboggling that a company as large as ATT has allowed this problem to go on as long as it has. It is unacceptable that ATT Support either responds that the engineers have been notified or glad you were able to fix it whenever someone says it hasn't happened for an hour. Can someone get us some help that fixes the problem permanently? This is absolutely ridiculous. Why do they think it's ok to have to log in several times a day? And why is it taking the engineers months to fix it? I bet if everyone cancelled their ATT internet the problem would be resolved quickly.

@Mike1000,

I was responding to your last post about not being logged out after updating security questions. As I mentioned earlier, our engineers are aware and working to get it fixed. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Yeah, I don't understand why AT&T doesn't seem to understand(or maybe they do and don't care) that without customers, there is no business. How such an established corporation can't solve problems in a field that they are supposed to be experts in is mind boggling. Is this the era of expecting the customer to accept and continue to pay for incompetence and mediocrity?

Well, things are looking better. For about a day things appear to be back to normal. I have 2 email sessions (2 tabs) going on on the same computer & I have 1 email session going on on 2 other computers in the household. They are staying logged on & not kicking each other off & they are all staying in sync insofar as receiving new emails, keeping my sent folder items up-to-date, etc.

For those of you who may not remember, I did go through the 2-step verification process which I had not done previously as I didn't want to give Yahoo my mobile number. But I thought that could be part of the problem so I did it. I'm not saying that fixed it as we have been told by AT&T that their engineers were working on it. So that also could be why I'm pretty much back to the way it use to be (I haven't checked everything out yet).

I'm thinking that the engineers fixed the issue. If those of you that also were having these "logged-out" issues can comment as to whether or not you are continuing to see those issues it would help. Also, whether or not you did the 2-step verification process that started 2 or 3 months ago?

Since I checked the "Keep Me Logged In" box, I haven't had any issues so far.

Bottomzone, I'm still good on my end. Still got the same 2 open email sessions going on 1 computer & 1 session on another computer in the same house. Now on the 3rd computer I was playing around with it & had my regular email session going on but then signed on to another Yahoo email address on the same computer. It knocked my 1st session off. But when I "refreshed" my original it came up with the 2nd mail session sign-on email. But that's the way it's been forever. I could never have 2 open Yahoo email sessions going on at the same time on the same computer. Actually I could but that's when I had Windows & Linux running on the same computer but independently in their own spaces so it was basically 2 computers.

@mike1000 and @Bottomzone and Elmi @atthelp: for the past 2 days, my account appears to be back to normal - no more auto-signoffs, etc. I did not enable 2-step verification and I made no other changes, so perhaps ATT engineers made a change that helped me, at least for the moment. Will post new info as needed.
