We can help you with your email login, @JERM1942.

We recommend that you reset your password using the Forgot password option on myAT&T to re sync your account. You'll want to wait 24 hours from your last sign in attempt, as the 205.2 [LU003] care code means that the email account is locked.

Here are the steps:

  1. Go to att.com/myatt.
  2. Select Forgot password?
  3. Fill out the password info.
  4. Choose security questions or temporary password and follow the prompts. If you choose a temporary password, we’ll let you know where we sent it.
  5. Create your new password.

Let us know if this helped you sign in, or if you need further assistance.

Did not try earlier as I am sure I entered the right pwd. Was/am also concerned not to trigger similar behavior on the other devices (tablet, desktop)

If you're anything like me YES, it will trigger failure on other devices. I have been able to use email on Galaxy phone all the time I was locked out of webmail on my laptop with Care Code:205.2. I reset the password and now I can get in webmail but am locked out of mail on phone with different Care Code :201 [LU100]
Like a bad dream.

If I recall, that code means mismatched passwords.  Since you have multiple devices, could that be a possibility?

How are you using mail on the smartphone? What app? Is it POP/IMAP? Of the native Yahoo mail app?

If POP/IMAP and you turned on 2-factor authentication, you may need to generate an app-specific password.

How you access the mail matters - some native phone apps support the new OAUTH, but ones that don't will need an app password.

Easiest to use the native Yahoo app.

@tonydi funniest part of it is I used my same (old) password to "reset" password to access webmail. Someone had mentioned doing that on another thread where folks had been having to reset/change passwords weekly for months. So, I am using the same password but now Yahoo mail app won't let me use it. I even deleted the acct and tried to set it up fresh. I also tried Outlook mail app on phone with same message. Oddly, Outlook on my other laptop can still access email without any changes.
The last time I was locked out of webmail (Yahoo mail app still working on phone) I managed to get on live Chat with someone and gave them my password and they supposedly re-synced my acct. All was working fine for about a month.

Update: as of this morning I can now use Yahoo mail app on phone to retrieve email. Checked on laptop and Webmail access is still working. All is well- until next time.  For future Care Code errors I will just continue to use my original password to "reset" my password and wait patiently for all to re-sync before attempting to open email on phone.

Ahh, ok, so it was just a matter of timing.  I wish I understood exactly how the mail app is different with regard to logins.  It's extremely fortunate that it's enough different from the web login that phones/tablets stay connected and don't have this "too many failed" issue.

Glad you're back in business....for now. 🤞
