Password Recovery
Hello, I'm trying to recover/reset a password.
My stepfather recently passed away and my mother, somehow, managed to get a "too many failed attempts" when opening his email. (I'm not quite sure how she managed this since the password was saved in the browser. I think she accidentally tried getting in through Windows Mail.)
Anyway, all the tax stuff has been emailed to his account and we really need to get to it, but we don't know the answers to his security questions. All the links I've found rather infuriating lead through only one path, the security questions.
Thanks for any pointers.

I see this link says:
But there is no "temporary password" option.

Sorry for your loss, @dsbw. Let's get you back into this email.
Since you can't reset it with the security question or temporary password options, we're going to need to manually reset it. Please meet us in private via the direct message inbox in the top right corner of the page. We're going to be messaging you shortly.
Once you're back in, we recommend updating your security questions to make sure you can reset it in the future.
Keep an eye out for our DM! We're looking forward to getting this resolved!

So, this was resolved in DMs, thank you.
But here we are again locked out, exact same situation. I'm not sure why this should be, given that we get the logged in saved, and auto-log-in, but it's no longer working as of a couple of days ago.
Can we get this resolved in a way that it doesn't keep coming back?

I'm going to move this whole thread to the Email forum.
Take a look at the lists of posts in this forum where you'll see hundreds and hundreds of other customers in the same leaky boat. Most of them will have posts from ATTHelp with the "workaround", if applicable, because there is no fix.
