Mail Sign In Rejects Correct Password and Then Forces Password Reset On First Try
Good afternoon. I have used Ma Bell for my Internet and E-Mail for well over a decade. My E-Mail address' doman is Bellsouth. Recently, and repetitively, the E-Mail sign in system rejects my log in. At the sign in screen, I log in and enter my password. It then tells me that I have entered my password incorrectly too many times and it forces me to reset my E-Mail. I entered the right password. I only entered my password, which was correct, once. It then completely locks me out, and does this every time I have to log back in. My maternal grandparents are experiencing the exact same issue. My grandmother said that if this isn't fixed soon, they will quit Ma Bell's E-Mail program altogether, and just use some crappy alternative like the G-Mail. Why is this happening to me? I inputted the correct password and it not only rejects it, but makes me reset my password! My only saving grace is that it lets me re-input the same password every time. God have mercy on me. I can't take this. -TURTLESHROOM

The same thing is happening to me and has been for several months. My password lasts for a day or two. It makes me change my password. However, I change it to the same password each time and it lets me do that. That in itself tells me something is wrong. An application should never let you use the same password over and over…..

The same thing has been happening to me for the past several months. I have to change my password about every 24 hours or so. The one thing that tells me something is really wrong is ATT lets me change my password to the same thing over and over. Which no application should allow the use of the same password over and over……. ATT what is the fix….

This has been going on for every member of my family and also my mom. We all have sbcglobal email accounts. It is beyond ridiculous that this is a known issue with known solution.'

@aliencds Thanks for your advice. We were on hold for a Loooong time (45 minutes) but we finally got through to a human who fixed the issue in a couple of minutes.
I will add to anyone else having this problem, if you have an email account from a past AT&T service, but don’t use AT&T as a service anymore, you will absolutely need to speak to a human you can explain that to because the voice response will not understand what you want. Call 1(800)288-2020 and IMMEDIATELY ask to speak to a representative. Do not waste your time with voice response.

I have had the same issues all week: Locked out of my email account until i either chat (online) or speak with a tech agent on the phone. Between wait times and actual work with the agents, I have wasted over ten hours this week. And every tech agent gives me a different reason for the problem. I have done everything this website suggests and everything the tech agents have suggested. The only way to get back into my email is for the tech person to resync it. And then it works -- until I try to log in again. Also, if I stay logged in for a period of time, I will be logged out for "security purposes."
I can easily access my att.net email on my mobile phone, which is NOT on the ATT network. WHAT IS GOING ON? Why won't AT&T acknowledge their responsibility in this and FIX IT once and for all, rather than letting all the underpaid tech workers take the brunt of customer anger. Does upper management know how much good will this is costing the company?

I am having the same problem on my sbcglobal account but it only happens on my windows laptop. My Apple devices will log on even when my lap top tells me that I have been shut out. I have changed my password many time, but that sometimes only works for a few days. One solution suggests waiting 72 hrs after password change to use the account. That is ridiculous, who doesn’t check email for three days. Maybe gmail is in my future.

I have been an sbcglobal email user for 20 years. For about the last year, my password fails after a few day to a few weeks. I enter the correct password, only to be locked out. I am told to reset my password. I have done this many times. This requires me to reset the password on 5 different devices. VERY ANNOYING. I see that I am not the only person having this problem. One recommended solution is to wait 72 hours after reset to use your email. RIDICULOUS! Who doesn’t want to use their email for 3 days? Magee gmail is the only solution.

Ignore the 72 hr thing, it's bogus, it doesn't matter. You don't actually need to change the password, you can just enter the one you've been using. For most people that eliminates the need to change it on multiple devices that are staying connected.
Given that AT&T has supposedly been working on fixing this issue for months without any results, I think your "future" needs to be now while you're still able to get into your Yahoo/AT&T account.

Same thing with Mine. Att - Currently.com Yahoo Mail. Need to reset every day.
I can't even get into the forum because it tells me I have an account but impossible to find out what the ID and passwords are.
I absolutely hate Att and would change to any other service but where I live none are available.
Over the past 6 months I have spent at least 25 hours with Customer support who 1st of all I can't understand and 2nd have no idea how to fix the problem. They go into a manual and give you solutions that don't work. I always ask to escalate and the next Tech is even harder to understand and is just as clueless.
I have switched my windows laptop to Outlook but my Iphone somehow keeps me from changing
My final thought is this forum is useless except as an outlet to waste more time about the same problem that you have failed to get a solution for from the Att Techs.
