Mail Sign In Rejects Correct Password and Then Forces Password Reset On First Try

Good afternoon. I have used Ma Bell for my Internet and E-Mail for well over a decade. My E-Mail address' doman is Bellsouth. Recently, and repetitively, the E-Mail sign in system rejects my log in. At the sign in screen, I log in and enter my password. It then tells me that I have entered my password incorrectly too many times and it forces me to reset my E-Mail. I entered the right password. I only entered my password, which was correct, once. It then completely locks me out, and does this every time I have to log back in. My maternal grandparents are experiencing the exact same issue. My grandmother said that if this isn't fixed soon, they will quit Ma Bell's E-Mail program altogether, and just use some crappy alternative like the G-Mail. Why is this happening to me? I inputted the correct password and it not only rejects it, but makes me reset my password! My only saving grace is that it lets me re-input the same password every time. God have mercy on me. Here is more information on how to troubleshoot your email.

 

We suggest that you reset your password:

  1. Go to att.com/myatt.
  2. Select Forgot password?
  3. Fill out the password info.
  4. Choose security questions or temporary password and follow the prompts. If you choose a temporary password, we’ll let you know where we sent it.
  5. Create your new password.

After your password is reset, we suggest that you wait a full 72 hours before you log back in to your email. This will make sure that the account is fully synced.

  1. Go to att.com/myatt.
  2. Select Forgot password?

I am also having the same issue with sbcglobal.net.  I asked @ATTHelp to move this to next level support in another thread.  I would guess this is happening for everyone with legacy accounts.  A similar issue happened about a year ago.  This is a huge dissatisfier to their legacy customers.

We suggest that you clear your cache and cookies on your browser, because this will get rid of anything that is affecting the page to load properly.

 

You should also reset your password:

  1. Go to http://sm.att.com/788ca9c.
  2. Select Forgot password.
  3. Fill out the password info.
  4. Choose security questions or temporary password and follow the prompts. If you choose a temporary password, we’ll let you know where we sent it.
  5. Create your new password.

After you reset your password, we suggest that you wait a full 24 hours so that it will fully resync your account.

I have tried to reset via iphone, ipad, chrome for win 10.  all getting the same response.  I did clear cache and history

@ATTHelp There’s a bigger issue here than just cache and cookies if all of the legacy domains are impacted. 

additionally, I’m not trying to reset my password every time I want to access my email, as I don’t have this issue when I log in to view my bill. 

so if it can work so that you can get paid it needs to work when I want to access my email.
