Locked out of email CANNOT get to answer security question screen

Email ID was hacked by someone attempting too sign in too many times. When I enter "I forgot password" it brings me to screen CARE CODE 205.2 [LU003] and wants me to enter my email and last name. However after I do that, it says it didn't work and the only option it to say I forget my user ID (which I did NOT forget it). Hower if I click on that, it brings me to the "enter contact email" screen in which case I do NOT have one.  

How can I just get to the screen that allows me to answer my security questions?

Hello, Jaybee8955.

 

We don't have the ability to add the option to answer the security questions. If the only options to reset your password are using your zip code or email, and neither are working for you, we'll have to ask for you to wait for us to resolve the 205 care code issue.

 

We don't have an estimated time frame for when this will be fixed, but we're working on it every day. We apologize for any inconvenience this may be causing you!

We understand constantly resetting your password can be frustrating, @Jaybee8955.

 

This is a known issue, and we are working to resolve this as soon as possible. We encourage you to learn all about Care Code: 205.2, which includes workarounds and causes.

it's been over a week and I still receive the same message on the email I am trying to reset. After I hit reset password it gives 2 chances to enter email ID and last name. After 2 failed attempts at that question, then it says let's try resetting with a zipcode or contact email. This email has neither since it was a free email account I set up for a family member 15 years when I had AT&T internet service. Why does it not bring me to the screen where at least I can try to guess at the security questions set up 15 years ago? If I provide the Email in question (I don't want to do this in an open forum) can't you just reset/reboot/bounce (whatever term you call it) that email account so I can at least get to the screen that lets me answer the security questions?

This is unacceptable having to wait for AT&T to resolve this code 205.2 issue. My family member is trying to change their bank accounts, student loans and other online accounts to a different email. Most online accounts will NOT allow you change to a new email unless you click on a link that they send to your current email (which CANNOT be accessed). If I can provide the exact date and the email account used to create this locked email, I don't understand why AT&T won't allow me to get to the "answer security questions" screen.

Thanks AT&T for resolving the issue. I was able to get back into the email account today. The error 205.2 simply went away and all is fine like nothing ever happened in the first place. I did set up a recovery email, so if I ever get locked out again hopefully I will regain access sooner than 30 days
