Locked out of ATT email

Locked out for no apparent reason.  How do I unlock without having the change the password?  Business email and changing passwords is a huge headache for all involved.

We know how important it is to stay connected, tcottingame.

Some AT&T Mail customers are reporting that they are not able to login to email due to their account being fraud locked. For some customers, this is occurring on a daily or weekly basis and requires them to reset their email password to regain access to their mail account.

It is believed this issue is being caused by bad actors trying to gain access to legitimate users’ mail accounts.  After six unsuccessful login attempts by the bad actors, we place a fraud lock on the account for the protection of the AT&T user and their mail account. To regain access to your account, you must reset your password after validating your identity.  Please follow normal actions to secure your account, including resetting your password.

Please note: AT&T Security is investigating and is frequently blocking the IP addresses of the bad actors who are making these login attempts.

Make sure to check out our article on Resetting Your AT&T Mail Password, and let us know if you need assistance with the reset.

Please keep us updated.

AT&T Security is investigating and is frequently blocking the IP addresses of the bad actors who are making these login attempts.

Given that this issue starting popping up very frequently around the end of last October, how much longer is it going to take the crack team at AT&T Security to fix this?

I'm locked out of an account & AT&T is not recognizing my name, my cell number, or anything else that would allow me to get back into a specific email address. Customer service is garbage & your advice—resetting the password—is useless if AT&T refuses to recognize alternative emails, names or cell numbers.

Yep, that's essentially a dead end for that account.  I understand the reasoning, not allowing you back in since you can't prove it's your account.  That's just good security.

However, in this case it's all been caused by something Yahoo/AT&T did that corrupted the database that had your original info so they need to come up with a way to make exceptions.

Not holding my breath, though.

You should add your mobile phone number as part of security procedure and try to update security questions. This way you may be able to reset your password and use any password you like without having to lockout again.

Just make sure, you don't get 205.2 error code which usually means 24 hours wait time to login again to account.
