How do I recover a hacked email account?
I have an old sbcglobal.net email account (which at&t apparently maintains now) that I have not logged into in about a year. I believe my account has been hacked as I can no longer log into it. When I attempt to reset the password it asks for my userid and last name associated with my id, but when I type them in I get a message that says "Hmm... that didn't work. Check your entries and try again." I obviously know my last name, as it is in my userid. I am assuming whoever hacked my account changed my personal information related to the account. How do I regain access to my account?

Hi there, garrisonsharon. We do understand the importance of having to recover an email address that you have lost. We would like to help.
So we can deep dive into you email profile to find out what the next steps are, let's go ahead and move this into a direct message. This way we can access your account to do the deep dive that we need to. Be on the lookout for a chat notification in the upper right-hand portion of the page, next to the bell icon. Once you're there, we can continue this over the phone or in chat if you prefer.
Looking forward to speaking with you soon.

Hi there, scientist223311. We understand how important it is to be able to access your email again. Let's look into your concern further.
We will be sending you a direct message to look into a reset option for your email. Be on the lookout for a chat notification in the upper right-hand portion of the page, next to the bell icon. Once we are in a direct message, we will be able to continue this over the phone or chat if you'd prefer.
We look forward to speaking with you!
