Having to reset my password every time I try to access my email account

I get a message when I try to log into my email account on my laptop that there have been too many attempts to log into my account and I am locked out until I change my password. This started out happening every once and awhile but now it is happening just about every time I try to log into my email account using my laptop through currently.att.yahoo.com. I called AT&T support and was told that this is a known problem and the solution was to change to Outlook or Thunderbird for my email. I tried Outlook but it is too slow due to syncing the mail through the AT&T mail servers. Is this a known problem? If so, is there a solution besides changing to Outlook or Thunderbird?

I have also had this issue for a year, but for me my mail app works fine, I just have to reset when I try to log into att.com and see my bill, then it of course makes me renter on my mail app too. This need to be prioritized much much higher.

I switch from Google Chrome as my browser to MS Edge and I have only had to reset my password once since Sunday, which is a huge improvement of 5 - 6 times a day.  Now, that I typed this I probably jinxed myself and it will start happening all the time.

You didn't jinx anything....this isn't an issue related to specific browsers or anything else on your computer.

As recommended I tried using a security key on my webmail all to no avail, I am running four computers using Microsoft Office Outlook 2016 and my Apple iphone, I like to access the webmail and delete all the messages, especially the junk mail, so that I don't have to suffer them, on all the computers. It is certainly annoying and obviously at Yahoo/AT&T's computers, so they should get their programmers working on it and find a solution.

Oh, they've been "working on it" for 5 months now (well, that's their story and they're sticking to it).

Just to be clear, I don't see anyone recommending using the Secure Mail Key on the webmail.  That's only for email clients that don't support OAuth2, like Outlook, Apple Mail, etc.

My new beef is that when I try and change the password, every time I log in, I have to jump through hoops confirming my identity and remembering my security questions, I had my wife's cell phone number listed as to contact with a security key also my CenturyLink email address.

They do not send anything to Centurylink emails and they have deleted my wife's cell number and my cell number because it is not an AT&T number, where do they find these highly intelligent programmers?.

ATT has known about this problem for over a year and doesn't seem either capable or interested in fixing it.  But they won't tell you that.  No work around that I've been able to identify.  We just have to (Edited per community guidelines) it up & deal with it or change providers.

We have been using AT&T email since dial up 1998, I don't intend to change now.
