Forced to "reset" password to Yahoo email account every 2 weeks.

I have an old email account back from the SBC days that I still use through Yahoo. Every two weeks I'm forced to have to reset my password when I attempt to log into that email account through AT&T's login system. I figured out that it doesn't care that I don't change my password so I just re-enter the same password every two weeks. Unfortunately, this also means I'm forced to have to re-enter the username and password on my iOS email client every two weeks after I "reset" it on my PC.

This is extremely broken and inconvenient. I've wrestled with AT&T customer service a few times over this and always nobody has any idea what the (Edited per community guidelines) they're talking about or are able to provide a solution that actually fixes this problem for my email account. I'm hoping I can finally get some real help here with fixing this once and for all.

You're not going to like it but the "solution" is to switch to some other email service.

Nobody at AT&T has a clue how to fix this, probably because it's something Yahoo has mucked up on their end.  If you look around the forum you'll find that a large percentage of the posts are email login related.  It's been this way since last Oct or Nov and the ATTHelp people here know as much about it as the CS people you've dealt with already.  You're actually lucky that you can still access your email even though you have to take a couple of extra steps.

Normally Yahoo issues eventually get resolved, often seemingly by magic, but this one has been going on so long that I'm beginning to doubt that they'll ever fix it completely.

So what I don't understand then is why AT&T hasn't worked with Yahoo to address the problem. At the very least this is still egg on AT&T's face...

I hear ya.  There are a lot of things that AT&T does/doesn't do that I don't understand so maybe that's why I'm so cynical about this one.

AT&T has never shown that they care about the email service and I've often said I think they'd just as soon not have to spend money providing it.

And who knows, maybe there are people at AT&T who are pushing on Yahoo to address the problem but if so, the whole collection of them are clearly incompetent given how long this has all gone on.

Have had this same issue...trying to log in for email.  It's the same, every two weeks; suddenly your password is no good and you are forced to change.  Strangely, this only happens on my PC; retrieving email on my IOS device still works without changing password.  What a mess!

Same thing happens to me - on PC only, android phone and iOS on Ipad stay ok.  But to use it on PC must change and then have to change on both PC browsers and the ipad and telephones. IRRITATING!!!

Im in the same boat, and I'm desperate- I can't even reset anymore- now I'm completely locked out. Hoping to find help here.

You can call the AT T support line if you are locked out completely.  AS this continues to happen, I have found two things that help...somewhere in my account settings I have set my mobile phone as preferred contact, so now when locked out, it sends a code there for reset, instead of to email like before (duh, why would they ever have done that anyway if you were already locked out?).  And second, if and when you ever get it unlocked, LEAVE THE "KEEP ME SIGNED IN" BOX UNCHECKED.  IF you use your password manager on your PC, then your password should be already saved, just know you have to click to sign in each day now.  Still an unbelievable mess in this high tech world that AT T cares so little to address this issue.  I would dump this email account if not for the fact that I have had it for 25 years and shutter at the thought of all the accounts and contacts changes it would take to make a move.  *Sigh

I’m in the same exact boat. What’s worse is Yahoo is charging for me to forward emails to a new one. So I’m forced to continue to use this ancient address.

my husband went into our ATT wireless account- reset the account password- and that worked.
